Thrifting with thredUP at JCPenney

livvyland-blog-olivia-watson-austin-texas-fashion-blogger-thred-up-jc-penny-dooney-bourke-handbag-1Are you into thrift shopping? #Sponsored Lately, my sister and I have had so much fun scoping out the cool secondhand stores around Austin. thredUP has been an online thrift brand we’ve both shopped for years and when we found out they were opening shops in 30 select JCPenney’s nationwide, we were pretty pumped to find one in a south Austin store just minutes away from my house. Blake watched Jude for a couple of hours while we got enjoy a coffee date and some thrift shopping! Needless to say, it was an afternoon very well spent and we left with some awesome finds.

Sharing some snapshots from our visit and a try-on haul of what I left with!

The JCPenney team said they’d just unpacked that the day we stopped into the store…and I am so glad they did because WHAT a find! It was half off the original price and in perfect condition. Love the black and brown combo…what a staple handbag to go with everything! thredUP and JCPenney are restocking items weekly, so definitely check jcp.com/thredup to see if there’s a store near you!

thredUP is the worlds largest online consignment store and has so many awesome brands we know and love: J Brand jeans, Paige, Joe’s, Kate Spade, J Crew, Vince, Theory, Tory Burch, Free People, Lululemon and SO many more (35,000 to be exact!).

Though I’m a big online shopper, it was so nice to be able to see the pieces and try on in-store at JCPenney. thredUP has a big presence filled with racks of fall and winter clothing and lots of fun accessories, so there’s plenty to choose from. My sister and I locked down the biggest fitting room and tried on a handful of cute items. I walked away with a $17 J. Crew plaid button down (!!), a beautiful wool cardigan by Vince and a pretty camel sweater with a v-neck that hides my nursing bra perfectly, ha! Those three items and the handbag were under $175…that’s a steal!! Given that the thredUP shop is hosted by JCPenney, all items are eligible for further discounts offered by the department store. We used a 40% off coupon towards our purchases…SO awesome!

For my Austin readers (and those in surrounding cities!), definitely head over to the JCPenney at Southpark Meadows and scope out the thredUP shop! For those not near a thredUP shop, have some fun shopping on JCPenneythrifting the thredUP website…I could spend hours on it!

A big thank you to thredUP & JCPenney for sponsoring this post! All opinions are my own.

  • I love that thredUP now has some physical locations! I’m old school and love shopping IRL rather than online shopping. 🙂

The south Austin Penny’s must be the same as mine, aka Southpark Meadows. I was not bowled away by the thredup inventory when I went in. I found a dress marked at $21.99 that was the identical dress I bought on Wish for $6.00, and I bought it in three colors for less than their price for one. There was nothing upscale or different from the “new” clothes at Penney’s, and the pricing of the thredup inventory was over the top.

I love recycle & repurpose! I drop all my prices to $5.99 almost immediately (no matter what) as it is more about the reason, then the money. All my items are donated from consignment shops and the profits go to a homeless pet shelter … happy dance.. awesome feeling!
