Happy Friday, y’all! This post has been a long time coming and I am finally sharing the scoop on my blog photography equipment! From what camera we use at home and for travel, who my go-to Austin photographers are and everything in between…let’s get to it!
Alrighty gals! This post has been a long time coming and I received so many awesome questions from y’all over the past week – excited to get down to the nitty gritty and share how to start a blog!
I am very fortunate to have Blake as my web developer and site designer (thanks my darlin’!), so I asked him to provide some feedback on a few bullet points that will help get you started in everything from buying a domain name to figuring out the aesthetic and layout you want your blog to have. As always, if you have any further lingering questions, please comment below!
Hello there! First off, my apologies for the delay in getting up my Weekly Chat posts these last couple of weeks – it has been tough to make time to really sit down and write something more heartfelt lately. I feel like I can bump out outfit posts quite fast, but these Weekly Chats take some deeper thought and deserve my undivided attention. Thus, during hectic weeks when our house is upside down and the to-do list in my agenda is overflowing, stepping out to a coffeehouse for a little “me time” and some writing therapy seems to be an impossible (or rather, anxiety-filled) task. However, I did title these entries “weekly” chats for a reason…and I promise I am doing the very best I can to get one up every week! They’re my favorite posts to write, I just don’t want to give 50% and hit publish for the sake of getting a post up…I’d rather hold back until I can really commit and produce something I’m proud of and post about a topic that my readers will learn from or appreciate in some way.
When thinking about what blogging knowledge I have that could potentially help someone starting out or even in the thick of the industry, the thing that came to mind was to share a few learning experiences I’ve had as a blogger. Today is actually my three-year blog-iversary (wow, so crazy how time flies!), and after reflecting on how wonderful (and tumultuous at times) this “journey” (gah, The Bachelor terminology is really rubbing off on me…) has been, I thought of a few mistakes (…er, “learning experiences”) to share that will hopefully keep you from running into similar instances and give you some fresh food for thought!
A question I receive often from readers and new bloggers is: how do you build your brand? It’s a question that comes with a loaded response (…and time, of course), but I feel there are a few key components that are the building blocks to creating a brand that speaks to a sense of style, written voice, and photo aesthetic that is authentic to you.
Hello there! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are strolling into Monday feeling refreshed and motivated to take on the week! We are in the midst of a new site design rollout (eek, can’t wait to share this with y’all in the next few days – Blake has been hard at work creating something really magical!), thus the past few days were spent getting content re-tagged (I’m adding a few new categories to my new site) and all that good stuff. Stay tuned for the big reveal!
I love asking my readers what type of content they want to see from me, and one of my biggest requests lately has been to share my Instagram editing tools, tricks, “secrets,” etc. It makes me so happy that folks enjoy my Instagram posts and are interested in this topic! I am a sucker for iPhone photography and editing apps (they’re seriously sooooo fun for me), so let’s get to it!
The blogging world is one of those industries that you kind of have to navigate blindly on your own…if you keep working hard and producing good quality content, more opportunities come up and you feel like you’ve unpeeled another layer of the “unknown.” There’s no manual with all the answers, no secret recipe for “blogging success.” For me, it has been a ton of trial and error, vulnerability, embarrassment at times, great days, horrible days, you name it – I’ve experienced it. However, there are a few things I reaaaaaally wish someone would have given me a heads up about. Thus, if I can save you the grief by sharing this list, I am happy to do so! That said, let’s get to it!
Hey friends! By popular request, today’s Weekly Chat will feature my 5 tips to grow your blog! It has been so much fun to hear your wonderful feedback and jot down all the questions I’ve received thus far – so please, keep ’em coming! (You can either comment below, send me an Instagram DM or email your questions to livvylandblog[at]gmail.com – each week I’ll be answering more blogging/styling/personal questions!).
Sooo… without further ado, here are my top 5 tips:
First off, I’m SO excited to start a weekly series where I answer some of the most asked questions I receive from y’all! One of my goals this year is to share more personal posts (writing = my therapy), so topics ranging from personal style and life happenings, to blogging tips and advice – and anything in between – I look forward to sharing more and exploring this new chapter of LL with you!
So, let’s kick off this week with the most frequently asked question I receive: how/why did I get into blogging? Ps. Prepare for loaded response to this one, please excuse my novel ahead but know that it all played an important role in where I am today!
