What’s Your Favorite Fall Activity?

Anyone else SO ready for fall? Cooler, crisp weather, hot coffee, cozy sweaters paired with ankle booties…and of course, enjoying some time outdoors soaking up the magical new season! We’re still in triple digits in Austin (omg!), but when Backcountry asked me to share a few of my favorite pieces for fall, I couldn’t help but jump on this one. For one, TONS of adorable long sweaters to layer up and wear over leggings with booties (…cute and SO comfy!), and two, loads of outdoor gear to pack for a day spent outside. Over the weekend I grabbed my sister, made us a couple of oat milk lattes for the road, rented a canoe down at Lady Bird Lake and took my new fall goodies for a spin…and it was the best day!

Note to self: go canoeing more often. We laughed SO much! The wind was pretty strong so paddling against the current had us breaking a serious sweat…and cracking up that it took all our strength to get back to shore. I know everyone has a lot on their plate these days, so being able to spend a couple hours in nature, paddling towards the city skyline and being surrounded by gorgeous trees was exactly what be both needed. It takes effort to get out of your routine and try something different – but trust me, it’s WORTH IT! Memories to cherish, a clear headspace and so much fun!! Sunshine on your face and wind your hair…it can certainly cure all.

The longer sweater/tunic I’m wearing is by Patagonia and y’all, Backcountry has THE BEST selection of Patagonia styles! My style has always been relaxed and casual, but now that I’m bending down constantly with Jude, I’m investing in longer pieces that provide full coverage. Whether I’m running to grab a quick coffee, throwing it on over my workout gear or staying cozy around the house, I am LOVING this one (I actually loved it so much I got the maroon color, too!). I’m wearing a medium and am 5’6 for height reference. I could have done a small, but I always prefer mediums in Patagonia tops and sweatshirts.

Another fall favorite I love to shop for are ankle booties! Backcountry carries lots of classic outdoor brands (Sorel, Blundstone, North Face.), but they also have a ton of awesome fashion brands like Seychelles. I live in ankle booties during these cooler months and knew the Deep Sea Boot would get a ton of wear. Plus, they look adorable with cut off shorts while it’s still hot out! They fit true to size – I’m always such a fan of this brand!

Do you have a favorite outdoor fall activity? I love a morning run when it’s nice and crisp out, but canoeing may be a close second after our time on the water!
