And while most days I’m not a huge fan of this combination (…dogs + rain = mud eeeverywhere in our house haha), this week was different because we totally embraced the crazy weather and it was maaagical. My sister and I spent an afternoon hiking down to Barton Creek (…the dogs stayed home haha). Mud, rain, cold wind…it was invigorating. We were both so happy! I know I say this all the time, but getting outside and spending time in nature really does revive the soul.

NO ONE was around!! As y’all probably know by now, Austin is a heavily populated city and normally this hike and swimming hole would be swarming with people. We actually used to come here back in our high school days when it was still a best kept secret, so getting to spend time here without the crowds gave us some major nostalgia pangs. Not to mention the gorgeous trees turning those rich orange and yellow colors was so dreamy! We soaked up the stillness and closed our eyes just to listen to the raindrops hit the creek and the trees sway in the wind.

When it comes to dressing for the colder months, Backcountry has the gear I need. I love their selection of major brands and when I saw this Patagonia Snap Fleece Pullover in such a fun print, I had to get it. It’s one of those everyday staples to keep you cozy and warm! I’m wearing a medium and it comes in a TON of color options. My tumbler is by YETI and we are major fans of these things in our house! The clay color is new and actually fits in perfectly if you’re a Texas Longhorns fan (…like we are!). This thing keeps your coffee hot or your cold drinks chilled for hours, they’re seriously the best!

My Sorel Out N About Boots are weatherproof and perfect if you’re somewhere with sludge or dampness. They come in three color options- I’m such a fan! Lastly, my hat is Carhartt and y’all…it’s only $12!! I just got Jude a Carhartt beanie for infants, so of course mama had to match! 😉

If you’re in need of outdoor gear for the whole family (their baby + kids selection is amazing!), look no further than Backcountry. Use code LIVVY15 to take 15% off your first purchase – exclusions apply.

A big thank you to Backcountry for sponsoring this post! All opinions are my own.
